Late in the show, Bob invited a guitarist up from the audience to join him on stage. We didn't hear the name, but knew he must be special. A few weeks later, I read in Rolling Stone Magazine that Bloomfield had been found dead as noted and that his last appearance had been as a guest at a Bob Dylan show in the City. As the author notes in the opening paragraph regarding brushes with greatness. RIP M. I'm not ...a note from years gone by this post.. I'm not a musician or audiophile but I often find that what I love in music or film seems at first outliers but then i google around a bit to find others who share my taste. Growing up I loved springsteen but I have not listened to him in decades and just cant find that spark .. and yet seger still moves me with those hooks and songwriting. And this is what is important to me nowdays- the music. As for the lyrics, Springsteen's writing feels forced and better left in college and Seger maybe high school- neither speak to me, especially when there are so many wonderful writers out there.dlangehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04920818613541913144noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6531553.post-82486900681763339972021-06-05T10:58:10.519-07:002021-06-05T10:58:10.519-07:00Thanks for reading and the comment! I don't think the current reviewers for the Reader are dishonest in any respect, but I do find their points, even in films they find lacking, to be pedestrian. Good arguments for their point of view about movies, but nothing ever rising above the category of "consumer guide". They are reviewers, not critics as we understood Shepherd to be, someone who went into the more problematic areas of film art and who was immune to the herd mentality of more famous critics who got quoted in the newspaper ads. Bob needs a blue pencil here. This is not a sweeping Blake-like vision a la "Chimes of Freedom" -- more like a secular extension of his Christian jeremiads. I respect Dylan for not pretending he is a young snotty word-slinger anymore. I do wish he'd pull back from the role of a garrulous old finger-wagger a little.<br />Barry Alfonsohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14624298347392911828noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6531553.post-7901324699203320502020-04-16T13:26:06.176-07:002020-04-16T13:26:06.176-07:00She demanded unquestioning fealty to her from her ...She demanded unquestioning fealty to her from her Toadies and sycophants in ( barf) The Collective.
