My...The good writers I know all have similar pasts. My creative writing teacher has told us about his black-cloth'd high school and early college days -- when he felt himself a brooding intellectual and "thought" he could write poetry, in his words. He turned a thick poetry anthology entitled "Artificial Gray" in to one of his professors, and was, in short, torn apart.
The Humbling seems like an inevitable occurance for anyone who writes anything at all, and since hearing that story I've dreaded the coming of mine with a kind of cautionary paranoia. I've been trying to delay it by keeping my notebook closed and never turning in any assignment involving writing outside of the essay format. I'm hoping I will be able to recognize and pinpoint all my inadequacies before anyone else does; I prefer abusing myself to having it done for me.
So I don't really understand the blog thing as a whole, but through Google searches I've come across too many to just ignore them anymore and I've felt obligated to leave long-winded comments on the ones I like. Your poetry and art commentaries/analyses are really interesting, and insightful, and inspiring in a way. And there is a fuck of a range of topics here, but I haven't read any of the others yet because I'm supposed to be explicating poems. In conclusion, I say, "Exquisite."Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
