I, too, think his best work is his non-fiction from the '60's and '70's. I read "Bonfire" when it first came out, but not since. Somehow I think it hasn't aged well. On the other hand,I didn't agree with everything he said about modern art or the counter-culture, but "The Electric Kool Aid Acid Test, "The Right Stuff" certainly were fun to read.
